At around 1:00 pm on June 9, officers responded to a home in Alton, Illinois, finding 22-year-old Liese Dodd dead. Police said the expectant mother was due to give birth in mid-July and her family was in the process of planning a baby shower.

“What happened to Liese Dodd, 22, who just moved to this place, is disgusting. What happened to her is utterly horrific, Alton Police Chief Marcos Pulido told KTVI.

Dodd.

In a video posted to the Alton Police Department’s Facebook page, Police Chief Marcos Pulido said Dodd’s mother went to check on him last Thursday and found him dead inside his home on Bolivar Street.

Pulido said Dodd and Holloway have had a nonstop relationship for the past two years. She said Dodd was pregnant and her deadline was in late July.

“Every murder is absolutely horrific. I will never take it away from me, but what happened to 22-year-old Liese Dodd … cannot be blamed,” said Pulido, who took a photo of Dodd in the video. “Disgusting. What happened to him is utterly horrible.”

Pulido said the department is in contact with Dodd’s family. He asked people not to reach out to them because they wanted privacy.

In all, Holloway, a Litchfield resident, has been charged with two murders, twice deliberately killing an unborn child, dismembering a human body, concealing a murder death, and owning a stolen vehicle. Both counts of the willful murder of an unborn child will be combined into a single count as the investigation continues.

Holloway’s bond is set at $2 million.

Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Haine released the following statement:

We offer our condolences to Liese Dodd’s family for the deep loss they have suffered. We believe the evidence will show that the defendant’s horrific acts here killed both a young woman and the child she was carrying. In the eyes of the law, these two murders are equal. And now he will face justice for both of them. I want to thank the Alton Police Department and many charities for their swift action in getting this dangerous criminal off the street.

A judge set Holloway’s bail at $2,000,000. He is currently held in the Alton Police Department.
