A man from North Carolina travelled more than 500 miles and spent close to eight hours behind the wheel to tell his mother that he had killed his wife. In Ohio on April 30, Jeffrey Myers Lacortiglia was taken into custody early on Sunday. The 43-year-old man allegedly killed his wife with a gun at his home in Spring Lake, North Carolina, and then went to the Hamilton Township Police Department to report the murder to officers.
According to Law and Crime, he allegedly told Buckeye State Police that they would discover his dead in his master bedroom.In order to confirm Lacortiglia’s description of the incident, the Ohio Hamilton Township Police Department got in touch with the North Carolina Harnett County Sheriff’s Office on April 30.

Along with a firearms magazine, a gun and the body of the 37-year-old woman were discovered in the bed next to it. In Lacortiglia’s residence, agents discovered a chilling note that said: “I’m sorry. I cherish you. The suspected murderer travelled across numerous states to get to Ohio, where his mother lived, after the deadly occurrence.
The defendant then confided in his mother that he was unsure of what to do in the wake of the murder, and she urged him to report himself to the police. After Blanca’s body was found, the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office obtained a warrant for Lacortiglia. Lacortiglia is in the custody of Hamilton Township Police, according to a press release from Harnett County Sheriff Wayne Coats,
who also said “No further information will be released at this time.” The 8-year-old son of the couple is currently in Ohio with the alleged killer’s father. According to Law and Crime, the defendant is being held without bond at the Warren County Jail.
