In connection with the death of a 25-year-old woman who has been missing since late last month, Oregon police have detained Thomas R. Fuertes, 35. The Oregon State Police state that Aleah Aaron of Grant’s Pass was reported missing on March 30. Later, close to Cave Junction in a remote area of Josephine County, investigators discovered Aaron’s body.

Fuertes was detained and is being held in the Josephine County Jail after being charged with murder and mistreatment of a corpse. According to authorities, he attempted to grab the pistol away from her because he believed she was planning to commit suicide. She informed authorities that Aaron was shot twice as she attempted to take the gun away from him, according to KOBI-5.

Aaron, who was born in Kentucky, was described in her obituary as “a girl who loved life and was always hanging on the seat of her pants.” The obituary reads, “One of the things Aleah liked the most was doing facetime with her nephew of hers Braxton of hers.”
Aaron enjoyed the outdoors and he adored animals. “Her interests included hula-hooping, painting, jewellery making, and journaling. Aleah loved music, particularly punk-folk, bluegrass, and the grateful dead. Both her family and friends will miss her. Aaron’s disappearance was first reported to the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, but they requested that the Oregon State Police Major Crimes Section handle the investigation.
