Migos rapper Quavo paid tribute to his former bandmate and rapper Takeoff at the 65th Grammy Awards. The rapper appeared on stage with Maverick City Music and performed “Without You.” Quavo was emotional as he showed off Takeoff’s diamond necklace to the audience as he reminisced about it. When his performance began, Quavo was surrounded by members of his choir.

Later, two other members joined him and sang “See You Again” by Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa. This performance is Quavo’s first after the death of the band member and his beloved nephew. Takeoff’s death was shocking news for the music industry. On November 1, 2022, the Migos rapper died suddenly in Houston after attending a private party of about 40 to 50 guests.

He was 28 years old when he died in a tragic incident. Police Chief Troy Finner said: “This morning at 2:34 am officers received a call of a shooting in progress. Officers arrived there shortly after: a downtown location, Billiards & Bowling Alley. They came across a man who had passed away. That man has been identified as Kirshnik Ball, better known as Takeoff,” People reported.

He further added: “I received a lot of calls from Houston and outside of Houston. And everyone was talking about what a great young man this is, how peaceful he is. What a great artist.” He further stated: “I spoke to this young man’s mother just an hour ago; she flew here from out of town. I want everyone to understand the pain, the suffering of a mother. Very hard.

And I told her, as we support any victim of violence or any victim of homicide, their family, we stand with them in this city, in this police department I want to thank our homicide unit under the direction of Commander Spears for doing a great job, time and time again.” More Later, a 33-year-old man, Patrick Xavier Clark, was charged with murder in the incident and was eventually released on $1 million bail, according to NPR.

The internet was quick to react to Quavo’s performance. One user said: “Damn RIP Take! It was the best tribute performance ever.”

“Uh-uh, not tonight. My mom casually mentioned that she’s turning 70 in three years and I’ve had a complete breakdown for the last 2 days because of it. I can’t deal with this, no way,” said another.
