For killing shooting the 5-year-old Belgian Malinois police K-9, Chucky, Matthew Reyes Mireles received the maximum punishment of life in prison. Chucky, a K9 officer, was shot and killed the evening of January 25, 2019, according to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar. He was buried with full military honours.

Deputies then started firing, shooting the guy. Salazar claimed that the result is known. The life of a law enforcement officer is a life at peril. And it hurts when they lose one of their own. And the fact that the constable has four legs doesn’t make things any simpler, added Salazar. Salazar claimed that Chucky lost his life while attempting to save others. He finds some solace in that.
