Bryant’s request for a bond was rejected by Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge Tamela L. Delfunt also charged Bryant with sexual immorality, alleging text messages from his live-in partner at the time that she discovered a stash of women’s knickers in his flat.

Adkins said, “I find that you are a risk to the community and a risk to commit further felonies.” Her family reported Morales missing in July 2022. Following the discovery of the victim’s remains in the woods close to a creek alongside Georgia State Route 316, Bryant was detained in February and initially charged with concealing the girl’s death and filing a false report of a crime.
The tragic find was made around 20 miles from where the kid was last seen alive on the evening of July 26, 2022, “wearing light blue jeans, a yellow spaghetti-strapped shirt, and white crocs,” according to the Gwinnett Police Department. According to phone records, she texted her mother at 9:40 p.m. to say she was going home, and GPS data showed that she was still moving over an hour later.
But she never returned. Both the victim and Bryant, a now-retired police officer with the Doraville Police Department, were natives of Norcross, Georgia. After being accused of hiding Morales’ death, he was sacked. He was close to Morales at the time, living in the Sterling Glen Apartment complex where he also served as a security guard.
That flat block, where Morales had been visiting a friend, is where she was last seen, according to investigators. According to arrest warrants acquired by Law&Crime, Bryant was linked to the murder because, according to the warrants, he “gave a false report of a crime to a law enforcement officer by falsely reporting that his vehicle was broken into and his gun was stolen.”
The warrant also claims that the defendant abandoned the victim’s naked body in the woods while they both lived “in close proximity to each other.” Detective Angela Carter added that Bryant “is known or suspected of” rape, murder, and other offences in the initial charging form.
Gwinnett County Chief of Police James McClure previously stated at a press conference that although authorities didn’t know how Morales died, they were confident that “she died at the hands of Miles Bryant” by the time she was reported missing.
On Valentine’s Day, the day of Bryant’s arrest, the judge presiding over the case refused to grant him bail. Over six months after Morales vanished, he was charged with the kidnapping and murder of the teenage girl by late February. In the wake of the tragic discovery of her sister’s remains and the filing of criminal charges against Bryant, the deceased woman’s bereaved sister, Jasmine Morales, told Atlanta-based NBC affiliate WXIA, “I guess with him being an officer has something to do with that.”
The Morales family has persisted in criticising the approach taken by regional law enforcement in this matter. Jasmine Morales stated in an online petition drive that it took the police department more than six months to uncover any leads regarding her abduction before they started requesting additional information early this year. “They requested my mother to take a DNA test and her whole dental history.
After all of this, they called us on February 8th to inform us that her bones had been discovered in the woods.The petition requests that the GCPD recognise that “Title 35 of the Georgia Code was violated when the officers told us to wait 48 hours before reporting Susana missing.
” The petition accuses police of breaching the law during the inquiry. The morning after the alleged kidnapping, on July 27, a missing person complaint was made, according to the GCPD, and the organisation does not have a written policy requiring a “waiting period” for missing children.
