Christian Alexander, 31, was charged with an attack by a dangerous dog that caused death and injury to an elderly person, both felonies. Bail for him was set at $125,000 and Monero said he was trying to raise the money to get him released on bail.

The couple discovered their dogs were off their harnesses when they arrived home on Friday, February 24, and were informed by emergency services that their dogs had attacked four people and killed one. The dogs had been involved in two recent attacks, one involving King and two involving Snow. Monero. Despite the attacks, Moreno still claims that they were not bred to be aggressive.

“We never hit them, we neglect them, we never abuse them,” she said. The dogs were temporarily confiscated by Animal Care Services following the attacks in January.
