A Florida mother of two and an Iraq veteran went missing after telling her family she was afraid of her ex-boyfriend. Rachel Schwartz, was last seen on Ring camera footage leaving her ex-boyfriend John Scorah’s home in Waimauma, Hillsborough County, with luggage around 5 p.m. m. of January 31. She then checked herself into a VA crisis center.
Chilling Ring camera footage captured Schwartz walking away from the house as a man in the background yelled, “Rachel, I have everything you need, I’m asking you to stay one more day.” Schwartz moved to Minnesota last year to escape Scorah. who was arrested in April 2022 for assault, according to Fox News. At the time of her disappearance, Scwartz was in Florida visiting her two children, whom she shares with another man. Schwartz’s sister, Elizabeth Schrupp, said she was supposed to fly to her Minnesota home on February 4 Her last message to my father was that she wanted to come home and that she was afraid of her ex. On the same day, her phone and her social media account went silent,” Schrupp wrote on Facebook.
It’s unclear why Schwartz decided to make a pit stop at Scorah’s home, but her brother-in-law told Fox News that her last words to her father were that she was afraid of her ex. Schrupp said police have been in contact with her sister’s ex-boyfriend since her disappearance.
“Police conducted welfare checks at her ex-boyfriend’s home, one with no response and another after she was missing for nearly a week,” Schrupp wrote. Schwartz was active on social media during her trip to Florida and posted several photos of her. The last post of her before she mysteriously disappeared showed her posing for the camera while she ate.
A few weeks earlier, she shared a photo of herself wandering around the Sunshine State with a caption that read, “I love finding open fields in Florida.” It is rare nowadays and one day this peace on earth may not be here.’ Before moving to Minnesota in late October, Schwartz completed a Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program for PTSD, according to her Facebook.
“I highly recommend written exposure therapy for those who have PTSD and have struggled like I have,” she previously wrote. ‘And it doesn’t end here. This is just the beginning!’ Schwartz is described as a five-foot-two-inch man with blonde hair and blue eyes.
