Marcy Oglesby Wiki – Marcy Oglesby Biography

An Illinois lady was previously charged with murder after a dead corpse was discovered in her storage space the previous year. Early in October, Maquon native Marcy Oglesby, 50, was taken into custody. Former Maquon Police Department Chief Richard “Rick” Young’s body was discovered in the storage unit the woman had hired from Roberts Self-Storage in Maquon at the time.

Maquon is a minor community in Illinois and Iowa that is about an hour’s drive south of the Quad Cities, which are part of the same metropolitan area. According to Moline, Illinois-based ABC affiliate WQAD, Oglesby was first charged with one count of hiding a death. In February, more accusations were filed, including concealing a homicidal death, aggravated battery by eating a hazardous chemical, attempted murder, and murder with a high possibility of killing or injuring.

Marcy Oglesby Incident Detail

On March 16, according to the TV station, Knox County Judge Andrew Doyle dismissed those accusations during a motion hearing. Oglesby is still facing accusations for two violations of firearm registration laws, two forgery offences, and concealing a death. Oglesby successfully contended that the more serious allegations she was facing went against her right to a prompt trial.

In an interview with Davenport, Iowa-based NBC station KWQC earlier this month, Knox County State’s Attorney Jeremy Karlin stated, “Our office respectfully disagrees with Judge Doyle’s reading of Illinois law and his ruling.” We aim to challenge his decision right away to Springfield’s Fourth District Appellate Court. As of the time of writing, Illinois court records do not indicate that the case has been docketed for appeal.

According to the Knox County Prison, Oglesby is solely detained on the forgery, concealment, and unregistered firearms allegations. The status of her case has not changed, according to officials, since the murder accusation was dismissed. The Knox County State’s Attorney’s Office was contacted by Law&Crime, but no response was received right away.

According to Rock Island, Illinois-based CBS station WHBF, Knox County Sheriff’s Department Detective Jeremy Moore testified in February that Oglesby had been romantically involved with Young. The cause of death for the former police chief is unknown. His system contained significant levels of chemicals often found in eyedrops, according to a toxicology analysis, WQAD reported. Oglesby’s pre-trial hearing is now set for April 3.

The case has seen a number of noteworthy developments. Although Young’s family confirmed his identify during the hearing where the murder charges against Oglesby were determined earlier that same month, the community mourned his demise in late February. But, the man’s body wasn’t officially recognised until earlier this week by the sheriff’s office.

According to a brief news release dated March 28, “The Knox County Sheriff’s Office got official confirmation today that the human remains found on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 114 East 3rd Street, Maquon, are that of Richard R. Young, 71 years of age, of Maquon.” The immediate family of Mr. Young has been informed. This enquiry is still open and ongoing.

Please get in touch with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office if you know anything about this case. The sheriff’s office claims that the initial inquiry was carried out after the storage unit’s strange odour was noticed. According to the accused, the smell came from a dead opossum that had already been removed. Yet when deputies peered inside, Oglesby allegedly hesitated to open a specific box before eventually acknowledging there was a deceased guy inside, according to law officials.
