In Louisiana, a 25-year-old male and a 28-year-old woman were detained over the weekend after they are accused of attacking multiple minors with a bat and a whip during a side fight while using hazardous weapons. According to jail documents examined by Law&Crime, the road’s Hunter Wayne Blanchard and Raven Leigh Cole were detained on Sunday and charged with a number of offences because of the violent altercation.
Blanchard is accused with disorderly behaviour during a fistfight, aggravated assault, aggravated assault in the second degree, and one count of cruelty to minors. Cole is charged with three charges of second-degree aggravated assault, one act of cruelty to children, and one case of aggravated assault.

Deputies were on patrol on Louisiana Highway 101 in Lacassine, which is roughly 100 miles west of Baton Rouge, when they first became aware of the fight between the two parties, according to a news release from the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office (JDPSO). Authorities claim that at around 6:30 p.m., a concerned spectator approached them and told them about the brawl.

In accordance with the statement, deputies went to the scene of the altercation, which was “in the ditch on the south side of the interstate near the service road.” According to the statement, Blanchard, Cole, and the kids allegedly tried to flee the area when the police came but were told to halt.
Officers discovered the incitement event occurred on the river near Oberlin, which is roughly 30 miles northeast of Lacassine, by questioning persons who were part in the fight. Once both parties were driving, the argument continued until “one vehicle forced the other off the road where deputies found them.”
The statement claims that after the cars stopped, Blanchard and Cole exited their car armed with “a whip and wooden bat” and “fought with the minors” with the weapons. It was unclear which party forced the other off the road at the time, the sheriff claimed. Law & Crime sent a message to JDPSO requesting more information regarding the incident, but JDPSO did not reply right away.
Both Blanchard and Cole were detained after police gained control of the situation, and they were both put into the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail. According to records, both were still being held as of Monday afternoon. According to jail records, a judge set each of them bonds at $20,000.
