During a wellness check in September 2012, Heather Jackson and her two children were found dead at their home in Sandusky, Ohio. Jackson, 23, her three-year-old daughter Celina and her son Wayne Jr., just 18 months old, were found strangled to death inside the home they had recently moved into.

Surveillance footage from a nearby hospital helped detectives locate the perpetrator, Curtis Clinton, whose car was seen near his home in the early morning hours of the day the murders occurred. In 2012, Heather Jackson was going through a difficult divorce while she was recovering from her drug-related problems. Curtis Clinton, an ex-con with a lengthy criminal record, had only been released from prison six months before the triple homicide. Records show Clinton, who served 13 years in prison for strangling an Ohio woman to death and was only on probation, committed the murders by strangling Heather Jackson and her children and also raping three-year-old Celina. . He was found guilty of five counts of aggravated murder, three counts of rape and one count of aggravated robbery, and received a long-overdue death sentence.
