A seven-year-old Devon schoolboy has tragically died after being struck by a car. The driver, aged 55, was arrested with police believing it was reckless driving that caused the unfortunate accident. The boy’s name has not been released and he was taken to a hospital, where he died. The collision is said to have occurred near Plymstock Albion Oaks Rugby Club in Wembury Road, Plymstock.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after the crash, which is believed to have taken place around 11:10 a.m. m. on Sunday, February 19. A 55-year-old man from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by negligent driving. He remains in police custody at this time.” As of now, Wembury Road has been closed to the public to facilitate investigations by the Highway Policing Team. The public has also been encouraged to share on the Devon and Cornwall Police website any dash cam footage or information about the crash that would help with the investigation.

The horrific incident occurred as the driver of the vehicle the boy was traveling in was attempting to take a curve on the U83.
Things went downhill from there as the vehicle left the road onto the northbound shoulder. The car overcorrected and skidded to the side, ultimately ending up in a ditch. The other people in the car, under the age of 18, suffered serious injuries.
