Second degree murder, two counts of official misconduct, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, one count of official oppression and one count of aggravated assault were filed against the five ex-police officers. Two of the officers, Mills and Smith, were released Thursday night after posting $250,000 bail.

Haley was hired by the Memphis Police Department in 2020. According to an August 2021 report, his annual salary as a probationary police officer was $45,623.50 and the 29-year-old is unmarried.
