The sheriff added that marijuana and a “white powdery substance,” possibly cocaine or heroin, were discovered in the residence, but he made it clear that authorities do not believe the shooting to be “drug-related at this point.” A tragic incident from 2021 involved a 2-year-old toddler who acquired access to a gun and murdered his mother while on a Zoom call. The gun owner was charged for leaving the gun out “without the supervision required.”
