A 23-year-old pregnant woman has died along with her unborn baby after her allegedly drunk partner crashed a Dodge Challenger while traveling at more than 100 mph through Staten Island. Adriana Sylmetaj was ejected from the car when she collided with a utility pole around 5 a.m. on Sunday morning, causing the vehicle to break into three parts.
Her boyfriend, 30-year-old Adem Nikeziq, was charged with manslaughter, negligent homicide, reckless endangerment and driving under the influence, among other things, a New York police spokesman said. The Albanian couple was traveling south on Hylan Boulevard in New Dorp at 4:44 a.m. . The vehicle struck a barrier wall before spinning and crashing into a wooden utility pole, police said.

“They couldn’t save the baby,” he said. ‘We’re never going to be okay. None of us. We have experienced a terrible tragedy. “I don’t understand how the [utility] pole is still up,” Mario Basso, owner of H20 Auto Spa near the crash site, told The Post. ‘She was hit so hard.’
