A 57-year-old Florida school bus driver was detained after it was claimed that he was seen on security footage touching and kissing a 10-year-old girl while she was in her wheelchair. Deputies from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint from a school system employee on March 30 around 7:31 p.m. who claimed that a 10-year-old kid had been “touched on her breast by her school bus driver.” The victim, known only as “JR” in court documents, is characterised as “a physically challenged individual due to suffering from Spina Bifida” who “does not have feeling from her belly button down” and needs to use a wheelchair.

Because of her condition, according to the authorities, JR needs assistance boarding and disembarking the bus. According to the complaint, JR approached the district employee and said that “when she and her wheelchair were being secured in the vehicle, the bus driver groped and kissed her left breast, over her clothes.”
Cabrera was the driver, according to the identification made by investigators who also obtained security camera footage from the car.Investigators claim that Cabrera and a female bus attendant can be seen strapping JR into her position on the bus in a description of the security footage. According to the accusation, Cabrera puts his hand on JR’s thigh “for a few moments” when the female attendant is standing behind him.

Cabrera was questioned by investigators on Friday, March 31 in his residence in the 5200 block of 24th Avenue Southwest. The affidavit submitted in the case contains censored portions of the bus driver’s statements. Nonetheless, Cabrera was detained and transferred to the Collier County Prison after the interview.
According to jail records, Cabrera was still in detention as of Tuesday morning. There was no information on bonds.
