Children’s Hospital with suspicious injuries. Initially, the children had been taken to the Southern Ohio Medical Center for possible broken arms and eye bleeds. It is not clear if it was the parents who were taken there.
Seeing the apparent severity of the injuries, the babies were taken to the children’s hospital, where they were found to have broken bones in their arms, legs and ribs, as well as bruises on their bodies and faces, and bleeding in their eyes.
Police were called after hospital staff suspected the injuries were not accidental and child services removed the children from the parents’ care.
After interviewing family members, the police finally arrested Carter and Allen. The couple faces charges of child endangerment and criminal assault. They are being held on $340,000 bond and are due to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on February 23, 2023. The investigation into the abuse is ongoing.
