A man was recently jailed in Florida for manslaughter after allegedly punching a man on a golf course in June. On July 27, Robert Edward Moore Jr., 76, was charged with one count of aggravated manslaughter of an elderly person. Dean William Zook, 87, died from his injuries several weeks after the altercation.
According to an arrest document obtained by FOX 35 Orlando, the incident started on June 28 at the Glenview Country Club in The Villages. The victim inadvertently hit Moore’s automobile, resulting in a confrontation. What the heck, you struck my car!’ shouted an unknown white male as he reached the site of the small mishap. The affidavit was read aloud.

“The victim admitted to hitting the vehicle with her vehicle and requested that insurance information be exchanged.” The unidentified guy then punched the 87-year-old victim in the jaw with a closed fist, pushing him backwards.”
Zook attempted to defend himself with his hands but was unsuccessful. Moore fled after discovering the car was not his. Zook began to slur his words and got wobbly during an interview with the agents. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors discovered he was bleeding from the head.
Zook died on July 16, only one day before his 88th birthday. Moore was apprehended after authorities discovered a report about him getting a hole-in-one in November 2022: he was wearing the identical shorts, shoes, and sunglasses he was wearing at the time of the occurrence.
Moore told officers that he believed Zook was attempting to flee the site of the accident. He also stated that he did not know the victim’s age. “The defendant also admitted knowing the victim was older and appeared frail, but he stated that he did not believe he was 87 years old,” according to the affidavit.
Moore was arrested and sent to the Sumter County Detention Center without incident. He was being detained on a $30,000 bond.The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the incident. There are no additional details at this time.
