As we know, in this free world everyone has a say, Sheryl Lee Ralph, who took home her own Emmy on Monday night for her supporting comedy, didn’t find Kimmel’s act “funny” at all. According to Variety, Ralph said: “I was absolutely confused. He didn’t know what was going on.” “I thought, ‘I wish that man would get up off the ground. And then I realized it was Jimmy Kimmel, and I was like, ‘Oh, the disrespect, Jimmy!’ But it’s just me.” She laughed, before sarcastically adding, “Sorry! I’m so sorry, it was lovely that he was lying on the floor during his wonderful acceptance speech! “I told him too! In his face! And he understood,” Ralph continued.
Regardless of what Ralph had to say, Quinta Brunson had already laughed when she was asked in interviews after winning the award, she said, “That didn’t bother me that much. Jimmy gave me my first big nightly commercial and was one of the first people to see ‘Abbott’. He thought it was one of the best comedies of all time and he was so excited it was going to be on ABC.”
“So at the time, I think he was really happy that Jimmy was there. I consider him one of the godfathers of comedy. Tomorrow maybe I’ll be mad at him,” she concluded. “I’m going to be on his show on Wednesday, so I might as well punch him in the face. I do not know what’s happening.
She didn’t end up hitting Kimmel on the show though, but she sure got her revenge when she interrupted the TV host’s monologue for his episode of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ on Wednesday! A comedic retaliation after Kimmel faced criticism for his appearance during the Emmys. The show’s official social media shared an image before the broadcast with the caption, “Look who interrupted Jimmy’s monologue tonight!”
However, fans reacted differently to the post and did not take it as lightly as celebrities. So maybe not all is good in the neighborhood for fans! One fan said: ‘Good for Quinta! I love Jimmy, but what a silly trick. It wasn’t even funny, but rather disrespectful: she took the magic moment from him while he lay under her feet. The people in the room were confused.
