According to WDSU, shortly after Friday’s arrest, Nikeal Franklin was booked into East Baton Rouge Prison on 12 counts of attempted first-degree murder and Jy’Shaun Jackson was charged with 12 counts of attempted first-degree murder. In the aftermath of the incident, multiple reports, including CNN, reported that on the day of the shooting, Dior Bar & Lounge in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was hosting a “back-to-school party” for students from the University of the South, A&M College. , and Louisiana State when a fight broke out between two groups of people.
However, both universities have denied any affiliation with the event at the club. According to arrest documents cited by the WAFB, police made the arrest after surveillance video showed the suspects entering the club with two other people.
