A teenager died after being shot outside a local skate park, LaGrange police said. Nasir Truitt was 16 years old. According to the police, the motive appears to be an argument between two groups of people, which led to multiple shots. Police responded to 400 Bull Street in reference to multiple shots fired in the area, along with one person shot. The address is South Bend Skate Park, where the shooting is believed to have occurred.
When they arrived, officials located Nasir Truitt with multiple gunshot wounds on Pierce Street, next to the skate park. He was taken to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center where he died as a result of his injuries. There are no suspects at this time, however the LaGrange Police Department is asking that anyone in the park at this time contact them with any information.

Nasir Truitt Cause of Death
A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed near Southbend Park Posted Saturday March 4, 2023 at 10:27 PM. m. by Daniel Evans. The victim was identified as Nasir Truitt, according to assistant coroner Amy Sheppard. Detective Ley Wynne, of the LaGrange Police Department, said the call came in when shots were fired at the skate park around 7:30 p.m.
However, it appears that the shooting actually took place on Pierce Street, directly across from the park. Pierce Street and the entire Southbend Park area, including the skate park, were covered in crime scene tape Saturday night. Officers arrived on scene and provided medical assistance to the victim, who was transported to West Georgia Medical Center. “This is a family area.
This is a great park with many amenities. We don’t think the park was necessarily part of it per se. It appears to have happened on Pierce Street, actually on the highway, at least based on the evidence we found,” LPD Detective Ley Wynne said. “We don’t know if these people were walking down the street and were attacked for some reason, but it appears nothing happened in the Southbend skate park area.”
Wynne urged anyone with information to come forward. “If there was someone on the scene when it happened and they left and never came back, that information could be critical,” she said. Wynne said there were a significant number of people in the park when she arrived, though it was unclear how busy the park was when the incident occurred. There are numerous cameras in the park area and Wynne said they are being checked.
