A viewer shared FOX 5 video of the accident’s aftermath, which involved troopers from the Georgia State Patrol and police from the Atlanta Police Department.
The Georgia State Patrol alerted the APD of a stolen Mercedes-Benz SUV that they were pursuing on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive on Saturday at around 6 o’clock, according to the police. When the motorist exited the motorway onto McDaniel Street and afterwards onto Metropolitan Parkway, officers pursued the car on Interstate 20.

According to police, the driver hit a car while attempting to pass it in his haste, then sideswiped at least five additional vehicles before coming to a stop. The driver and female passenger made an attempt to flee on foot after the collisions. A short while later, the suspect, 19, was discovered in his pants strolling around a neighbourhood.
The suspect, Michael Antonio Smith, 19, of Atlanta, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and is now being held there on suspicion of obstruction, hit-and-run, reckless driving, felony running and attempting to elude, and theft by receiving. He was allegedly wanted by Chatham County police as well.
