A grand jury in Hardee County indicted Matthew Flores on multiple charges, including murder and grand theft on Tuesday. He is in jail after sped away from police while driving the red Kia Stinger of then-missing and now-deceased Lyft driver Gary Levin.
They say they found José Martínez, 43, lying on the ground bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds. Martinez died at the hospital.Stephanie Velgara, who rented a room in the house along with her boyfriend Flores de ella, was seen by police speeding away from the scene; she was chased and they say she refused to stop until she crashed the car.

She was taken to jail. Flores was not in the car, but Wauchula Police Chief John Eason says witnesses told them he was the shooter. They also say that he had stolen the victim’s car and changed license plates. Where he went was a mystery.
The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office helped search a nearby lake for the murder weapon, but did not find it. Meanwhile, Velgara was released from jail on bail and, according to Eason, met Flores again and helped him continue to evade capture, leading to a second warrant being issued for her.
Police found Velgara, alone, on the 28th in Seminole County and re-arrested her for helping Flores escape from her. Flores is also a person of interest in Levin’s disappearance.
