The suspect in the brutal stabbing, beheading and dismemberment of his girlfriend, 52-year-old Tammy Bailey, told investigators he was upset she refused to have sex with him, according to authorities. Justin Fields, 38, is charged with murder and abuse of a corpse for murdering and stabbing Bailey more than 100 times and decapitating her with an eight-inch survival knife.
On Friday night, Oct. 28, for Fields’ birthday, the couple left the home they shared on Bailey Drive and visited several bars in the Springville neighborhood, the Metro reported. “He had a shot of brandy and then he went into his bedroom and he was playing guitar,” Blount County Sheriff Mark Moon told Al.com. “He decided he wanted to have sex, so he went into his room and propositioned him.”

Moon continued, “She rejected him and according to her statement, she foiled him and he stabbed her in the chest.”Her head was close to her feet when authorities discovered her, and one of her limbs had been dismembered, according to Blount County Sheriff Mark Moon. Moon described the incident as Fields had described it to sheriff’s detectives.
Field admitted to investigators that he lost consciousness and was left in the dark. When he woke up the next morning, he thought he was having a nightmare and stabbed Bailey over 100 times with an 8-inch blade in her dream. “We’re pretty sure she was dead at first hit,” Moon said. “When she got back there the next day, she hadn’t moved.”
Fields became distraught and called his father to confess that he “had done something horrible” and was intending to kill himself, according to reports. Fields’ father called one of Bailey’s relatives, but when he showed up at the house, Fields denied him access. Around 5:30 p.m. Police showed up at the victim’s residence after a relative of Bailey’s called 911.
While sitting on the front steps of the building and talking to an officer, Fields claimed to have done something terrible and, according to Reportedly, he admitted that the house contained evidence. “What’s inside is terrible and she doesn’t want to see it,” Fields said, according to Moon. According to Moon, Fields replied “Okay” when the officer informed him that he would be handcuffed for everyone’s safety.
“You’re going to arrest me anyway,” Fields reportedly said. Two deputies entered the house to witness the terrible scene. Fields told the investigator what he had done. “So she was stable enough to know what she was doing,” Moon said. “He was frustrated that she didn’t get what she wanted.”
According to jail records, Fields was arrested and charged with murder and battering a corpse. On Sunday, he was booked into the Blount County Jail. Fields had no criminal record and it was not clear at the time if he had a mental disorder. Agents who visited the house found the situation “quite difficult” because “they had never experienced anything like this,” according to Moon.
