A Salford man has been charged with the attempted murder of a young child in Blackpool, police said today. As reported in the Manchester Evening News, the toddler was found at a home on Wednesday with “head and facial injuries” and was taken to hospital.
Lancashire police said on Thursday that he was later released and that he was “back home with his family”. No further updates on his condition have been given. Lewis Prince, 28, of Browning Road, Swinton, Salford, was due to appear before magistrates in Blackpool today, Friday. In a statement today, Lancashire Police said: “A man has been charged with the attempted murder of a young child in Blackpool. “We were called at around 8.15am on Wednesday (December 7) with a report of an assault at an address in Brun Grove, Blackpool.
Officers attended an address and found a two-year-old boy with injuries to his face and neck. He was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been released and is back home with his family. A 28-year-old Manchester man was later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and has now been accused.
