A 4-year-old boy for whom an AMBER Alert was issued Friday night has been found safe, according to the Unified Police Department. The girl was abducted by 20-year-old Jonathan Moises Wuanloxten Hidalgo after he stabbed the girl’s aunt near Bingham Junction Blvd. and Tuscany View Road in Midvale, according to Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera.
At around 9:20 p.m. on Friday, a KUTV 2News crew watched as a police officer comforted the girl and took her to a patrol car. The suspect remained on the run as of Friday night. Rivera said this incident started around 7:30 p.m. Friday when deputies received a call about a woman injured on the highway.

According to Rivera, the woman had called Hidalgo, her ex-boyfriend, to ask him to take her. After Hidalgo arrived and picked up the woman and her 4-year-old niece, Rivera said, he stabbed the woman and dragged her onto the road. Rivera said Higaldo then left with the boy inside.
The suspect’s vehicle, a white Chevrolet Equinox, was later found at 3300 South and I-15, Rivera said, but neither Hidalgo nor the boy were in it. An AMBER Alert was issued but was soon canceled after a citizen found the girl and brought her to officers near where the stabbing of hers occurred.
The woman who was stabbed was in extremely critical condition, Rivera said. She said the boy appeared to be unharmed but was going to be checked. If she has any information on where Hidalgo is, please contact the Unified Police Department.
