A podcast host in Atlanta is getting credit for helping rescue Texas children from a home suspected of abuse. One of the children called his podcast in January for help. Podcast host Twaiyah Paynes said she would not stop until these children were safe. She thanks God that she found the teenager who called her.

“I just thank God we were able to get these kids out of the house,” Paynes told Channel 2’s Tom Jones. She started in January when Paynes was doing her Blindskinnedbeauty podcast about addiction. It was then that a teenager wrote in the chat that she had a disturbing topic. “He said, ‘What do you do if your life is in danger?'” she said.
The teen then called and said his stepfather had been sexually abusing him and his younger siblings. But the teen did not name him or tell Paynes exactly where she lived. Payne had the teen say that she was in Texas. On the call, she can hear the teen refuse to give her location out of fear. He then hears an exasperated response from Paynes. “So how do you expect us to help you, baby? I don’t know what to do now,” she said.
The boy mentioned that he was in a police program called DRT and that he was one of nine children adopted by his stepfather. So Paynes started calling all over the state trying to find out who had that program. “The one with that DRT program is Houston,” she said. She got her stepfather’s name after googling “stepfather adopts nine kids.”
