A man in his 30s arrived at a local apartment complex Monday to have sex with a 14-year-old girl he thought he had seduced online, police said. Halil Demiroz, of North Branford, was charged with computer enticement of a minor, risk of injury to a minor and criminal intent to commit second-degree sexual assault, East Haven Police Capt. Joseph Murgo said.
Demiroz was released on $150,000 bail, Murgo said.The investigation began Sunday when a person, later identified as Demiroz, contacted an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old girl through an online messaging app, according to Murgo. He initially tried to befriend the fictional 14-year-old girl before turning the conversation in another direction, Murgo said.

Demiroz agreed to meet in the parking lot of a Main Street apartment complex on Monday, according to Murgo. When he arrived, waiting officers revealed the bite, took him into custody without incident and transported him to East Haven police headquarters for processing, Murgo said. Demiroz is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in New Haven on March 1, Murgo said.
