During a live session on Facebook, Concepción addressed the news that the police have arrested the murder suspect. She says that the police cannot give her any information at this time about the “minor” suspect due to the fact that he is a minor. “Right now, I currently have [an] attorney and I will find the best information I can through my attorney to find out what happened to my son and the young lady.”
The grieving mother added that she will provide updates as she learns of anything new. “At this point, I just want justice for Devin Clark and Lyric Woods. It’s really sad that it took another 17-year-old to actually kill two innocent teenagers,” he said, adding, “So at this point, I just want to justice and I really want to know who this 17-year-old is.
“He had to be really mad at someone…he had a lot of anger in him,” she said of the suspect. Concepción went on to say, “I pray for his family right now because it’s a lot. I’m not a bad father. I feel bad for the parents of this minor. I can’t imagine what they’re going through.” At the bottom of it all, she said that all she wants is to find out who was behind the murder of her young son and her friend, as well as the motive behind it. Concepción also stressed that she keeps Lyric’s family in prayer, along with the family of the minor who is now being “accused of double homicide.”
According to reports from The US Sun, the process could be slow due to additional legal technicalities following a 2019 state law that required additional steps to charge a 16- or 17-year-old suspect as an adult. This is also why the Orange County Sheriff’s Office filed a “juvenile petition” for two counts of first degree murder with the Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. Due to the sensitive nature of the case, the police cannot release too much information to the public.
In a video posted later, Devin’s mother informed people of a “candle lighting and balloon release at the pavilion” at 6:00 p.m. m. on Thursday, September 22. She invited people to pay their respects and be a part of the gathering. She’s also willing to talk about the tragedy and answer any questions people may have, adding, “I’m grieving in my own way.”
