Last week, a 12-year-old child who sought out a challenge and won a total of five titles graduated from a university in California. According to the institution, Clovis Hung, a preteen, is the youngest graduate of Fullerton College. In a statement sent by the school, Hung’s mother, Song Choi, praised Clovis for being “extremely curious, mature, diligent, self-disciplined, and highly motivated.”
He is also incredibly interested, thus the university was the greatest choice because the typical public schools couldn’t satiate his curiosity.Hung was able to enrol in classes at Fullerton while finishing his mother’s homeschooling programme because to the school’s “Special Admissions programme.” Hung’s mother withdrew him from a typical public school when he was just 9 years old, claiming that his son was highly motivated and goal-oriented.

Hung began attending school in the autumn of 2020.Hung admitted that while he was initially anxious about attending college in person, he quickly “instantly fell in love with college life. I pushed myself to enrol in more lessons as a result. Some of Hung’s professors worried that the young guy might be intimidated by his peers due to their age disparity, but they were pleasantly pleased by how well Hung got along with more conventional college students.

Given the age and developmental gaps between him and the other students, “he was initially a little concerned about how he would relate to the other students, but those concerns were unfounded,” said Fullerton biology professor Kenneth Collins. The combination of ‘child’ and college student in Clovis has been fantastic.
He is boyish enough to treat him like a little brother and cheer him up while being mature enough for the other pupils to take him seriously. “When he had questions, he would ask them, and if they had questions, they would ask me,” Hung said to KABC. They treated me as if I were a younger brother. A public community college belonging to the California Community College system, Fullerton College is situated in Orange County, about 30 miles from Los Angeles.
Hung took more classes after becoming used to college life and eventually got admitted into the Honours Programme, where he was able to “thrive.” Hung obtained five Associate of Arts degrees in history, social science, social behaviour and self-development, arts and human expression, and science and mathematics on May 20 along with 900 other graduates from Fullerton.
When Jack Rico, then 13, graduated from Fullerton in the spring of 2020 with four associate degrees, the 12-year-old made the decision to enrol there. Rico later earned his UNLV degree in December 2021. Hung was chosen to serve as an Associate Student Senator for the coming academic year, during which he would enrol in STEM classes in preparation for his college applications.
Hung searches for his next accomplishment outside of his academic accomplishments in the sky. According to ABC7, Hung wants to become an aerospace engineer, a pilot, or a paediatrician. Hung declared, “I am quite proud of what I have already accomplished. I recently joined the Civic Air Patrol and intend to obtain my pilot’s licence at the age of 16.
