Police in Riverside, California, claim to have apprehended the “snake burglar” who they suspect is responsible for at least 70 commercial burglaries over the past two years.According to reports, the first burglary happened in July 2021. When Riverside police analysed other pieces of CCTV film from various businesses of the individual with the identical MO, they claimed they realised they had a serial slithering suspect.
Officers nicknamed the suspect the “snake burglar” because he would generally shatter a window to gain entry to a business, then slither across the floor to avoid setting off any motion detectors. Once inside, the suspect would normally look for a safe, unlock it, and steal money.

After receiving a complaint from a security firm that saw a man staring into the front of a nearby business and then starting to tamper with weather stripping around a window on April 12, police claimed they finally caught up to their guy. Police claimed to have seen Christopher Jackson, the suspect, standing outside the establishment with his hands up.
Jackson, who had already been detained on multiple occasions for various offences, was ultimately found guilty of 23 felonies and sentenced to six sentences of 16 months in prison. He only had to spend 10 days in jail, according to authorities, and was freed in November 2022 as a result of jail congestion.
When police apprehended Jackson outside the store, he had seven outstanding criminal warrants for his arrest. He was detained after being pulled over and is now being held in the Robert Presley Detention Centre on a $100,000 bail.
During the booking process, methamphetamine, according to the police, was discovered on him. The property crimes division of the Riverside Police Department will keep investigating related break-ins to see whether their “snake burglar” managed to sneak into any further companies.
