Although Donnelly, also called Nancy, died of pneumonia in January of last year, the house was locked up five months later, leaving Nancy’s family wondering what went wrong. He further added: “We are still very angry about the terrible conditions our mother must have lived in for the last year of her life.” She added: “Her house of hers didn’t take care of her like they should have. When we visited her, we could see that she was not clean and it seemed that they were not taking care of her ”. She later said: ”

Her injuries to her were first discovered by Nancy’s daughter Glynn, 69, on a weekly visit in October 2021.” before Glynn’s arrival. Colin later added: “When my sister visited her and found her with these wounds on her face, it was a huge shock. But the administrator of the nursing home told us that they did not know what happened to him because nothing was reported,” according to Metro.

The family alleges that after the grandmother of 10 was admitted to the hospital for a physical examination, medical staff discovered several additional bruises on her body before blood tests revealed that she, too, was dehydrated. Since the event, Larchwood Care has conducted an assessment of Nancy’s care, but later determined that her investigation revealed only “failures to communicate.” Social workers and the Care Inspectorate have also launched a joint investigation into the incident, Dailystar reported.

Larchwood Care announced in June last year that it was “not financially viable” to continue operating the home. Colin maintains that his family has not known anything about what happened to his mother and was never informed of the results of the investigation. Colin said, “It constantly comes to mind that we never got the answers we needed and that no one was ever held accountable for what happened to our mother.”

“We understand the concerns of Ms. Donnelly’s family and recognize her considerable anguish following the loss of a dear family member,” a Larchwood Care representative said. Glasgow City Council acknowledged that Broomfield Court Care Home was privately run and not a facility with which it had contracted, but stated that it was “aware of the concerns raised”.
