Ann Tenenbaum is from Savannah, Georgia, and is Lee’s second wife. The couple married in 1997 and he fondly referred to her as her “mate of hers” in a Forbes article that year. The article reads: “‘She’s my partner,’ says Tom proudly. She’s not referring to business, but to life, especially when the couple’s civic duties overlap.”
He then lists all the boards and philanthropic organizations he’s joined since they were married, which has only multiplied since the article ran. The two became closer, it seems, over art and charity. They were probably involved when the cause arose to support both simultaneously.

The collection of 60 photographs of the couple from the last century was donated to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for its 150th anniversary in 2020. It was also made into a book titled Photography’s Last Century: The Ann Tenenbaum and Thomas H. Lee Collection. Lee was married once before Tenenbaum to a woman named Barbara Fish, a philanthropist.
The former couple was married from 1968 until 1995 when they filed for divorce. Barbara Fish Lee founded and directs the Barbara Lee Family Foundation and the Barbara Lee Political Office, both in Boston, Massachusetts.
The biography of her on the Barbara Lee Foundation website states: “Barbara Lee is a national leader in advancing equality and representation of women in American politics and in the field of contemporary art.”
It continues: “Boston Magazine has listed Barbara among “Boston’s Most Powerful Thought Leaders,” “The 100 People Running This City,” and is listed among its “50 Most Powerful Women” in Boston. Women’s eNews ranks her among the ” 21 leaders for the 21st century.”
Lee and Tenenbaum have three children. Lee also had two from her first marriage, for a total of five. She shares her first two children, Zach and Robbie, with Barbara Fish Lee. She also has two sons with Tenenbaum, Jesse and Nathan, and a daughter named Rosalie.
