Tom Killen Wiki – Tom Killen Biography
A 95-year-old farmer from Queensland has died after being stuck in the mud for two days after falling from his stuck tractor. Tom Killen’s body was found on his Carters Ridge property in south-east Queensland by a friend who hadn’t heard from him for two days, ABC reported. The old man was reportedly pulled out alive by that friend. Killen was reportedly working near a dam on his property in Carters Ridge, south of Gympie in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, when the incident occurred.
According to the Mirror, the man was trapped in the mud around noon on Sunday, November 6. Apparently, the friend went looking for him after the farmer did not return any calls. “(He is) probably one of the toughest people I’ve ever seen at that age…even both of them and the police were commenting on how tough he is, a tough old guy,” the friend was quoted as saying.

Incident Detail
Medical help arrived at 7 am on Tuesday, November 8, where Killen was discovered, covered in mud from “head to toe”. “The tractor got severely stuck on the side of a dam,” said ambulance operations supervisor Shaun Bright, according to The Leader.
Neighbor Simon Martin suspects that Killen was probably investigating an irrigation leak on his property at the time of the accident. “Apparently there was a water leak in the irrigation pipes … so he must have ventured [there] and found it too difficult. All elderly people deserve better. There is not enough care for them,” he said, according to ABC
The elderly farmer was taken by ambulance in critical condition to the University of the Sunshine Coast Hospital, which is about an hour’s drive away. Killen was treated in the hospital for several days, but authorities confirmed on Monday, November 14, that he died over the weekend. The news outlet confirmed that the police are preparing a report for the coroner.
