Until the woman was added to the National System of Missing and Unidentified People in April 2021, the case remained unsolved, according to authorities. The remains was exhumed a year later, in April 2022, by Rankin County Coroner David Ruth in an effort to find the Jane Doe.

Mullins was 22 years old when she was slain, according to Othram Laboratories DNA Solves and Central MS Crime Stoppers. She was married with two young children, ages 2 and 4. She was from Potter, Texas, but detectives think she was residing in Mississippi at the time of her disappearance. If her husband, kids, friends, or other family members ever reported her missing, it is unknown.
