The Volusia Sheriff’s Office stated in a news release that “[Arney] told deputies that he and his friend had been out drinking all night, then got into an argument that escalated.”
Before “aggressively” approaching Arney, the suspect claimed his friend had smashed neighboring cars’ windows, according to detectives. According to a witness, Arney first shot the victim once in each leg before shooting him once in the head.The witness claimed that the victim did not threaten Arney before to the assault but the victim refused to cooperate with the investigation.
