A young woman from Melbourne was seriously injured in a roller coaster accident at the Royal Melbourne Show on Sunday 25 September. Shylah Rodden, 26, is currently in intensive care as she fights for her life. But the young victim is no stranger to life’s obstacles and so far she has managed to turn every obstacle into a springboard. Before the horrific roller coaster accident, Shylah stared into death after being in a car accident in January of last year. She flipped a car on Western Ring Road after colliding with a truck and a car, the Daily Mail reports. Shylah was thrown from the car onto the road because she was not wearing a seat belt. Two years before that, Shylah was in another serious car accident in 2019. Despite the series of tragedies, the woman shares an appetite to overcome life’s setbacks. At 18, some friends of hers introduced her to drugs. She even got a tattoo at that time that says: ‘Live Life Loose’. However, she turned her life around, got a job and received professional care, and vowed to make better friends.
Just two months before the roller coaster accident, her life threw another curveball at her when she lost her beloved brother Jason. Her devastated father sat her down and broke the news. Shylah considered her brother to be more of her “best friend,” her “everything,” and an “inspiring person that she looked up to.” The day of her roller coaster accident, Shylah was helping a friend with her ride and she was on a break when she decided to enjoy the ride.
Although the exact cause of her tragedy has not been confirmed, police revealed that Shylah walked onto a 350m long section of track to retrieve her phone and she was hit by a carriage traveling 70km. / h. However, some eyewitnesses claimed that Shylah was in fact on board the voyage. Victoria Police and workplace safety watchdog WorkSafe are investigating the event.
