There is reportedly a $3 million bounty on Rushdie’s head.
One of the first to react was Delhi-based British novelist William Dalrymple, who hoped that Rushdie would not be hurt. He tweeted: “A terrible day for literature, freedom of expression and writers around the world. Poor Salman, I hope he avoids injury and gets well soon.”
