According to the authorities, Thomas travelled from South Carolina to Hillsborough County, Florida, on August 15, 2020. He allegedly had a knife, zip ties, duct tape, mace, window punches, and a condom when he pulled up to Berenato’s house, parked his car nearby, and walked over to the house.

He made a hole in the patio screen and spent three to four hours there listening and observing. Thomas allegedly entered the house through the back sliding glass door after Berenato went to bed. However, this triggered an alarm that gave 29-year-old Berenato and her house guest Amanda Saccomanno, better known as WWE wrestler Mandy Rose, enough time to flee.
The defendant was inside the house with a knife in one hand and pepper spray in the other, the prosecution claimed in a petition to deny bail. “Mrs. Berenato, alerted, went to the door and saw the defendant in the residence with a knife in his hand and the pepper spray in his other hand,” they wrote. “Both victims escaped the house.
The defendant didn’t leave the house because he thought the two were hiding upstairs and he was waiting for them to come downstairs. The defendant was discovered inside the house and arrested.Thomas, a total stranger to Berenato, seemed to be fixated with her and furious that she hadn’t replied to his online communications.
Prosecutors stated in a 2020 application to keep Thomas without bail that “because of her online settings, messages from non friends are sent to a folder, and are generally not read by Mrs. Berenato.” “Research of this folder and others revealed numerous messages from the defendant, some dating back up to five years, in which he repeatedly expressed his desire to meet the victim and his obsession with him in progressively more frightening ways.
Over the years, the defendant had made numerous social media contact attempts with Mrs. Berenato and had grown irate whenever the victim did not reply. Documents in the lawsuit reveal that Thomas even threatened the Berenato’s then-girlfriend by telling her she didn’t “deserve” the wrestler.
He was accused of attempted armed kidnapping, aggravated stalking with a weapon, burglary with a weapon, and criminal mischief. Thomas entered into a plea agreement on April 17, and on April 25, he was transferred to the Florida Department of Corrections, although news of the development took some time to surface.
