A 23-year-old Mississippi babysitter who is already charged with capital murder in connection with the alleged death of a 2-year-old boy in her care last year has been indicted on a number of new felony charges related to the mistreatment and death of the kid and his younger sister.

A copy of the indictment shows that the accusations claimed Durham mistreated the kids over a period of many days beginning on September 9, 2022. According to two of the child abuse allegations, Durham hit the 2-year-old “in the face or head” on both September 9 and September 12 in an effort to “intentionally” cause physical harm.
The boy’s younger sister was allegedly hit in the head or face by Durham on September 11 and September 12, according to the other two abuse accusations. Alcorn County sheriff’s deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to a call regarding an unresponsive child at a residence in the 300 block of County Road in Corinth, Tennessee, which is located about 100 miles east of Memphis.
Deputies who arrived on the scene report finding a 2-year-old youngster who was reportedly unresponsive and seemed to have numerous bruises and marks all over his body. According to the organisation, he was taken by EMS right away to Magnolia Regional Hospital.
According to the ACSO, there was also an 11-month-old baby girl inside the home who was discovered with a number of unspecified wounds. Also first taken to Magnolia Regional was the girl. Subsequently, both kids were moved to Memphis, Tennessee’s Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
When detectives were called to the homicide scene, they found that Durham had been keeping an eye on the child and girl that evening. The babysitter was detained by deputies after it was discovered that she had an active misdemeanour warrant, according to the ACSO.
Two days after the arrest, on September 14, 2022, police authorities received word that the little child had passed away as a result of his wounds. At the time of the boy’s passing, his younger sister’s condition was classified as stable.
