The coroner at the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy on actress Lindsey Pearlman after her body was found 6 months ago in a car. The examination of the body resulted in the determination of the cause of death of Lindsey, who was then 43 years old, on Monday, August 15.
The former Empire actress was discovered dead in a car earlier this year on February 18 near the entrance gate to Runyon Canyon Park, a popular hiking trail in Hollywood, California. According to People, the coroner ruled her death a cause of suicide, caused by sodium nitrite toxicity. The study also said that Lindsey’s bloodstream had non-toxic amounts of lorazepam, metoclopramide and codeine.

On February 17, her cousin Savannah Pearlman tweeted that Lindsey’s phone had last been traced to Sunset Boulevard, which is about 1.5 miles from where her body was discovered. Vance Smith, Lindsey’s husband, wrote on Instagram: “Police found Lindsey. She’s gone. I’m devastated.” Following the discovery of her body, the actress’s agent, Michael Chiaverini, also issued a comment, according to People. He said: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Lindsey Pearlman today. The family has asked for privacy during this difficult time as they process and grieve.”

The 33-year-old actress revealed that two weeks before the incident she had spoken to Lindsey. “Met the most talented people in Chi. We all moved to Los Angeles together in hopes of pursuing our dreams. Our community lost Lindsey Pearlman. She was hilarious, ridiculous, stunning and ridiculously talented. I just spoke to her two weeks ago . It feels surreal that she’s gone.”
