According to the Bahamas Court News, police in Abaco, in the Bahamas, detained Shiver, 36, her lover Terrance Bethel, 28, of Guana Cay, Abaco, and Farron Newbold Jr., 28, the accused intended hitman. The Bahamas Court News states that while looking into a break-in at Grabber’s Bar and Grill on Guana on July 16, police allegedly learnt of the alleged conspiracy to kill Shiver.
According to the site, authorities discovered WhatsApp chats that described the alleged plan to kill Shiver when checking the phone of a suspect in the break-in. According to the Thomasville Times-Enterprise, the police report stated that “on July 16, 2023 at Abaco, [the defendants], while being together, did, with a common purpose agree to commit an offense, namely the murder of Richard Shiver.”
It’s unclear what charges specifically they face. According to the Bahamas Court News, the trio appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley on Friday. The outlet claims that they were not forced to submit a plea. They’re still being imprisoned in a Bahamian jail, and their next court appearance is on October 5. It is unknown if Shiver or the others have obtained legal counsel who may speak for them.
The Thomasville Times-Enterprise reports that Robert Shiver allegedly filed for divorce after learning about his wife’s purported liaison with Bethel. According to her online posts that show the couple and their three young children in the well-kept yard of their Thomasville home and on vacation in beachy destinations, the Shivers appeared to have a picture-perfect life.
