According to authorities, it was an attempted murder-suicide. Police have arrested a 32-year-old Massachusetts nurse after it was suspected that she was connected to the murder of her children and harming her baby. On Tuesday, January 24, police responded to a report of a woman who jumped out of the window of her Duxbury residence. The Associated Press reported that that’s when responding officers discovered the unconscious children showing signs of trauma.
Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz said the mother was immediately taken to the hospital, along with the children. The two children, named Cora and Dawson, died at the hospital, however their little brother survived. The Boston Globe reported that the 8-month-old baby was taken to Boston Children’s Hospital for further treatment.
Lindsay Clancy’s 8-month-old baby is in critical condition at the hospital. According to PEOPLE, Clancy’s husband made the distress call around 6:11 p.m. m. after discovering his wife wounded by her at her residence on Tuesday. The children’s great-grandmother told investigating officers that she had spoken with Lindsay Clancy last week and that “nothing seemed wrong.” She added,

Authorities believe that Lindsay Clancy may have been suffering from postpartum psychosis during the course of the horrific events. The speculation is based on recent Facebook posts; Cruz, however, refused to confirm the same. They disclosed that Clancy had mental health problems after the birth of her children. In July, he also mentioned experiencing postpartum anxiety.
A GoFundMe campaign was launched on behalf of the Clancy family to offer support to Lindsay’s husband, Patrick. The fundraiser aims to raise $400,000 to cover funeral expenses and medical bills. It has already raised over $350,000. Clancy has been charged with two counts of murder, three counts of strangulation, and three counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon. The New York Post reported that Lindsay Clancy graduated from Connecticut’s Lyman Hall High School. In 2012, she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Quinnipiac University. Clancy married her husband, Patrick, in 2016 in Southington. According to The Boston Globe, she earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Massachusetts General Hospital Health Professions Institute.
She denied further comment on the tragic death of her grandchildren. Neighbors also expressed shock at the deaths of the children and the charges Lindsay Clancy is facing. The Duxbury Fire Department mentioned that professional support services are being provided to members and first responders who worked on the scene of the Duxbury residence on Tuesday.
