A teenager was shot in Georgia while campaigning for Senator Raphael Warnock. According to the Savannah Police Department, the teen was campaigning Thursday for the senator’s runoff election. At around 5:35 p.m. local time, officers responded to the shooting.

Officers found the 15-year-old with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to a Savannah hospital for treatment and has since been released. Officers identified and located the suspect, Jimmy Paiz, 42, at the residence.
Police say the preliminary investigation found the suspect fired through a locked door, striking the teen, while the teen was at the front door campaigning.
Well, I was saddened to hear about this incident, and I’m praying for the young teen and his family even as we monitor what the situation is,” Warnock said.
Neighbors WTOC spoke to Friday said they had seen Paiz sitting on his front porch and waving to people passing by. One man said Paiz may have felt threatened.
Several security cameras and high fences are at the house where the shooting occurred.
