A New Hampshire swim star was found dead at her St John home, which she shared with her boyfriend. Jamie Cail, 42, was found unconscious on February 21 by her boyfriend and police have launched a criminal investigation. Her partner, who has not been identified by authorities, left a bar around midnight and returned to her house, where he found her lying on the floor.

Cail was then taken to the Myrah Keating-Smith Community Health Center by her boyfriend and a friend of hers. Once at the hospital, paramedics performed CPR and called the police, but Cail “succumbed to her ailment,” according to the USVI Police.

The former University of Maine swimmer reportedly worked at a coffee shop in St John. Police said the Criminal Investigation Bureau is investigating Cail’s death after authorities were notified of a “dead on arrival” at 2:40 a.m. m. Cail, from Claremont, New Hampshire, was a star swimmer who competed in the US in her youth.

A friend told WMUR: ‘She was just that she was a very beautiful person. She had a huge heart. She “She was very affectionate, kind, very loved and popular on the island and everyone knows her.” In 1997, she competed for the USA at the Pan Pacific Championships and won a gold medal in a relay race and won a silver medal at the 1998-1999 Aquatic World Cup in Brazil.

The swimming star attended Bolles School, known for its swimming program, in Jackson, Florida. Cail still holds the records for the 200-yard fly, 400-yard MI, 200-meter MI, and 400-meter MI in the 15–16 age group. She won several high school state championships in Huntington Beach, where she moved to train with the Golden West Swim Club in California.

Cail was a member of Team USA at the 1997 Pan Pacific Championships when she was just a teenager, where she won a gold medal in the team’s 800 freestyle relay, according to SwimSwam. She won a silver medal at the 1998-1999 FINA Swimming World Cup in Brazil in the 800-meter freestyle as a member of the United States Swimming National B Team.

In 1996-1997, with Bolles, Cail was included in the top ten Top 16 lists published by United States Swimming and she swam in college at USC. In a statement, the VIPD said: “On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at approximately 12:08 a.m., a male left a local bar to visit his girlfriend at his residence.” Upon his arrival, he discovered his girlfriend on the ground.

“With the help of a friend, the man was able to load the woman into a nearby vehicle and transported her to the Myrah Keating-Smith Clinic. “Once at the clinic, she underwent cardiopulmonary resuscitation and 911 was notified, however, the woman succumbed to her illness. ‘This case is currently being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
