The sheriff’s office said in a Monday afternoon update that it had learned Bailey was in the front passenger seat of a smashed car that was being driven by one kid and carrying a second minor.Bailey was detained on Saturday, according to Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell, when it was discovered by the authorities that she was not authorised to be in communication with a youngster.

“Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 700 block of Mocksville Highway on Saturday, May 13, 2023, after receiving information concerning a traffic accident. “The two juveniles who had run away were found before the deputies arrived. One of the young people was transported back to the scene of the collision with the help of deputies. The North Carolina Highway Patrol investigated the automobile crash after the deputies had cleaned up the area. The young driver of the car was detained, according to the sheriff’s office, in accordance with a “outstanding Juvenile Secure Custody Order,” which is a “legal mechanism” under North Carolina law “by which certain delinquent and undisciplined juveniles may be held under lock and key pending hearing and disposition of their cases.”

The young person was allegedly then transported from his home to the Alexander County Detention Centre. The former educator was cited for aiding in the delinquency of a minor and permitting an unlicensed driver to operate a vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office, but Bailey was also arrested at her Bluff Court home because “she was under court order to stay away from one of the juveniles in the vehicle” and broke her pretrial release conditions once more.

According to the sheriff’s office, more charges “may follow.” Authorities claimed that despite everything stated above, Iredell District Court Judge Christine Underwood overturned a magistrate judge’s ruling about the defendant’s bond, allowing the defendant to be released from custody without posting further bond. The sheriff’s office provided an amendment to their original news release, saying, ”

Our agency was made aware that District Court Judge Christine Underwood amended the bond to strike the 750,000.00 dollars bond issued by the magistrate.” Bailey will continue to be held on a posting bond as of October 2022. For breaking a pre-trial release order twice, she is being freed from detention on this new accusation without posting any further bond.

Since her initial August 2022 charges for statutory rape of a person 15 years of age or younger, indecent liberties with a minor, and sexual activity with a student, all felonies, Bailey had been hit with additional charges for violating her bond conditions by allegedly having the student rape victim over at her home at least nine times.

The terms of Bailey’s bond on those charges prohibited her from getting in touch with the kid who was driving in the most recent incident. Additionally, she was given an ankle monitor. Bailey was charged with more than two dozen offences as a result of the initial round of suspected bail violations, including aiding a minor’s delinquency, intimidating or interfering with a state witness, and disregarding the terms of her pretrial release.

Before joining Northview Academy, formerly Pressly School, Bailey worked for the Iredell-Statesville School District there. Northview Academy is a “alternative/non-traditional school serving students in grades K–12.”
