A man murdered his girlfriend, attacked his son and kidnapped his grandson, according to Denver, Colorado police. Clemente Flores-Hernandez, 43, was booked into the downtown detention facility on Saturday, online records show. Police said they were called to the residence in the 4700 block of Durham Court at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Friday.
A 911 caller said her mother was shot in the home and that she was following the person responsible, according to the probable cause affidavit. During the investigation, the father said that he and his son had been in the basement of the house. His mother called them for dinner. Only the boy went up the stairs.

“[The son] said several minutes later that he heard numerous shots,” the affidavit read. “[The son] said that he went up the stairs after hearing the shots and while he was still going up the stairs, he observed that the defendant, Mr. Flores Hernández, approached him with a gun pointed at him.
[The son] said that he started fighting with the defendant over the gun and during this fight the gun went off. The son described the gun as empty and out of ammunition, and that’s when he said the defendant dropped the gun. [The son] said that the defendant then began to physically assault [the son] by placing his hand around [the son’s] throat and pushing him against a wall.
[The son] reported that he could not breathe, was dizzy and felt that he was going to lose consciousness” son followed Mr. Flores-Hernandez on I-70 eastbound toward Strasburg, CO,” the officers wrote. “Around mile marker 312, Adams County Sheriff’s deputies deployed stop poles that disabled Mr. Flores-Hernandez’s silver Nissan Altima.
Mr. Flores-Hernández got out of the Silver Nissan Altima with [the grandson] in his arms and was eventually taken into custody.” Officers said they saved the boy and described him as uninjured. Flores-Hernandez is currently facing one count of first degree murder, first degree attempted murder and first degree kidnapping.
Officers found the woman in the living room of the home. She had been shot at least once in the head, they said. There were three spent cartridges near her body, they say. The son said his mother and Flores-Hernandez “have been in a relationship for several years and have also lived together for several years,” according to the affidavit.
