Johnson is now the 16th prisoner to be put to death in the United States this year, according to the Death Penalty Information Center. Court documents show that according to the authorities, Johnson lured the child out of the house and down the street, where he took her through a sunken pit, a tunnel, and an abandoned glass factory. Johnson attempted to rape the girl, but she resisted, so he killed her by repeatedly hitting her with rocks and bricks, fracturing several parts of her skull.
