Benjamin Macann, was arrested Monday in the southern city of Plovdiv.According to the National Crime Agency (NCA), Macann was found to have a fake passport and a real passport in someone else’s name. One of Britain’s most wanted men was arrested while carrying a fake passport at a hotel in Bulgaria.

According to the National Crime Agency (NCA), Macann was found to have a fake passport and a real passport in someone else’s name.

He is wanted by Norfolk Police for alleged conspiracy to supply class A drugs.Macann, formerly of Dereham, Norfolk, is accused of supplying many kilos of cocaine in 2020, when he and his accomplices used encrypted phones.The suspect’s arrest follows the NCA and Crimestoppers’ most wanted campaign in January this year.

He was on the list of 12 fugitives thought to be hiding in Spain.Macann, the fifth person on the list to be arrested, is in custody awaiting the start of extradition proceedings.The suspect was found and arrested after a joint operation involving the National Crime Agency, Bulgarian police and the Spanish Guardia Civil.

Steve Reynolds, regional director of NCA Spain, said: “The arrest of Benjamin Macann was made possible after a great deal of work by our international liaison officers, the Guardia Civilian fugitives team, the Bulgarian Police and colleagues at Bulgaria’s international cooperation directorate, to whom we are very grateful.

“Macann is the fifth fugitive to be arrested from the Most Wanted list. We will not stop until the rest are caught.”

Detective Sergeant Eddie Hammond of the Norfolk and Suffolk serious organized crime unit said: “We continue to work with partners and law enforcement around the world to find our most wanted.

“As we continue to disrupt criminal networks around the world, we want to thank them all for their continued determination and meticulous hard work that means nowhere is safe to hide.”
