The death of his daughter who committed suicide after being diagnosed with Lyme disease has left Alain Champagne in deep pain. The chairman and CEO of Canada-based Le Groupe Maurice revealed in a LinkedIn post that his 22-year-old daughter Amelie “took her own life.” Champagne wrote in early September: “To my LinkedIn community…although I never do personal posts, I wanted to share this…It is with the deepest of hearts (and still in shock) that I share the tragic news of that our beloved Amelie (22) took her own life last Sunday”.
He added: “Every day is extremely difficult but Joanne, Mathieu (19) and I support each other along with her boyfriend Nic de Ella.” Speaking about the health issues her daughter faced, the executive continued: “We witnessed how challenging life had become for her dealing with the symptoms of evolving Lyme disease.”

According to Champagne, her family finally received a positive result for Amelie’s disease in the US in June 2022 after searching for many years, but the disease had already claimed its victim, according to a People report. “Over time and despite recent treatments, the disease had evolved far beyond the many physical symptoms and was now severely affecting her brain,” Champagne continued in her LinkedIn post.
“Although every breath of hers and every moment is painful at this stage, in her honor we will try to continue living our lives with the same height that she lived hers. A long road lies ahead (every day)… We hope [that] Amelie is now in a position to help guide and support us through this,” the grieving father wrote.
Champagne concluded the post by sending an emotional message to her beloved daughter, writing, “We will love you forever and cherish every memory of our wonderful time together. You made us all better people. Now it’s up to us to live up to it.” challenge… Take care everyone.”
